If you want to improve your smile’s appearance, cosmetic dentistry may be the answer. A beautiful smile can improve self-esteem and make people feel younger and more confident.

Cosmetic dentistry refers to procedures that improve the appearance of teeth. Common procedures include:

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a common cosmetic dental procedure that can make your teeth whiter and brighter. It can treat discoloration and staining that has occurred over time, or that has been caused by certain types of medication, including tetracycline.

Teeth whitening can be done using at-home methods or in the office and usually takes around two weeks. For in-office whitening, the dentist can whiten your teeth in about 45 minutes using a powerful whitening gel. The gel is applied to the teeth and activated by a special light. For at-home whitening, the dentist will provide you with a custom mouthpiece that is similar to a mouth guard. You will apply the whitening gel to the mouthpiece and wear it for the recommended amount of time.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, shell-like coverings that mask dental imperfections like discoloration, gaps, and misalignment. A veneer is typically bonded to the front tooth, covering the entire front surface of the tooth. They can completely change the appearance of your smile by altering shape, size, length, and color.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is the process of applying composite resin to the tooth and sculpting the resin into the desired shape. This process can improve the appearance of a tooth that has been affected by a cavity or discoloration and staining. Dental bonding is a fairly quick procedure. It is sometimes called composite bonding or direct bonding.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great option for replacing missing teeth because they look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. In fact, implants are the only restorative treatment that will actually replace missing tooth roots and stimulate jawbone tissue.

Dental implants consist of small titanium posts that are surgically implanted into the jawbone. After a few months, posts fuse with the jawbone through the process of osseointegration. Then, abutments are attached to the posts, which act as anchors for replacement teeth.

Dental implants are extremely versatile and can be used for replacing a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, and even a full upper or lower arch of teeth.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used to cover the entire tooth. They are often used in conjunction with dental bridges or implants. Dental crowns also restore teeth that have broken or have been worn down. They are made of porcelain. However, they’re sometimes made of metal, resin, or ceramic.
